Don’t Change yourself to please others
Before you can change yourself to please others, you need to understand why you’re trying to do this in the first place. What is your motivation?
Are you trying to make others happy because you think it will make you happy in the long run? Are you trying to avoid conflict or difficult conversations? Are you trying to avoid disappointing others?
Once you understand your motivation, you can start to look at why this behaviour isn’t working for you.
When you’re always trying to please others, you can feel resentful, drained, and unhappy. You may also find that you’re constantly in conflict with others, or that you’re not able to express your own needs and desires.
It’s important to remember that you don’t need to be perfect – you’re allowed to have flaws and make mistakes. And it’s also important to remember that you don’t need to please everyone – you can prioritize your own happiness and wellbeing.
If you’re struggling to change yourself to please others, reach out for help. A therapist or counsellor can help you understand your motivations and provide strategies for setting healthy boundaries.
Don’t Hold grudges.
Don’t hold grudges against people; it’s not worth it. Instead, forgive them and move on. Dwelling on the past will only bring negative energy into your life. Let go of the grudges and be at peace.
Don’t React to every comment and situation.
When you’re out and about and someone says something that gets your blood boiling, DON’T REACT. Save your energy for the things and people that matter. Every reaction, whether good or bad, only fuels the fire and makes the situation worse. So before you say something you may regret, take a breath, step away, and calm down. You’ll be glad you did.
Don’t Solve everyone’s problems
Don’t solve everyone’s problems. You’re not a superhero and you can’t fix everything. Take a step back and let people figure things out for themselves. Offer your support, but don’t take on the burden yourself.
Don’t Stay perfect 24/7
If you’re constantly feeling like you have to be perfect, you’re not alone. But you don’t have to stay that way. Let yourself be human. Let yourself make mistakes. Let yourself have off days. You’ll be a lot happier about it.
Don’t Feel guilty – about prioritizing yourself.
Don’t feel guilty about prioritizing yourself! It’s important to take care of yourself, both mentally and physically, in order to be your best self for those around you. Make time for things that make you happy, whether that’s reading, going for walks, or spending time with loved ones. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so make sure to take time for yourself!
